Sign On Letter To Prevent AIDS funding cuts by Dutch Government

Ashton Wingate — December 14, 2010 – 10:21 am

The Dutch Parliament will vote on these proposed cuts in the coming days. We have drafted a letter to both the Dutch Minister for International Cooperation and Members of Parliament (more or less the same text), attached to this email, which we hope will be endorsed by as many organisations as possible.

The letters focus on the following:

Stressing the fact that the Netherlands play a unique role in the international AIDS response, having achieved great successes through promoting human rights of most at risk populations and integrating HIV/AIDS and SRHR policies and programmes.
Highlighting that the proposed cuts will have a severe impact on the lives of people globally (as the Netherlands is currently ranking 4th in the list of international AIDS donors)
Asking the Dutch Government to continue investing in a strong AIDS response

We would greatly appreciate if you could sign on to these letters. Unfortunately, there is a very short deadline, as the letters already need to be sent to the Minister and the Dutch Members of Parliament by Wednesday 15 December.
